            The Brush Country Music Jamboree is a three-hour musical extravaganza which is held the first Tuesday of each month at the Live Oak County Coliseum beginning at 7 p.m.

            The Jamboree is now in its 15th year. The house band currently consists of Gary Carriger of Corpus Christi, steel guitar; Bob Miller of Beeville, lead guitar; Larry Sellers of Mineral, bass guitar; Joe Nixon of Devine, fiddle and mandolin; James Skidmore of George West, drums; and George Norris of George West, rhythm guitar.

            In addition, Jim Warren of George West is the stage manager; Bill Dragoo of Sinton is the emcee; Dale Cavallin and Dan Reagan of George West handle the sound system; and Jerry Retzloff of Three Rivers is the talent coordinator and publicity chairman.

            The Jamboree offers a wide variety of music, including country and western, polkas, waltzes and gospel. It is sponsored by the Live Oak County Fair Association and all net proceeds from the shows go toward its youth scholarship fund. Admission is $3 per person. Anywhere from 200 to 400 people attend the show each month.

            Tentative guest performers for the next five months are as follows:

            April 6 – Al Dean, Rick Maguglin, Miranda Smith, Peter Kane and David and Barbara Brown

            May 4 – Chris Rybak, Bobby Flores, Tommy Britz and Barbara Jones, the Lister Family (“Big Bill” Lister, Weldon and Tony Lister and Bill Lister) and the Baily Family gospel group

            June 1 – Kenneth Kristynik, Mary Mensch, Randal Edwards and the Gaither and Wilson families gospel group

            July 6 – Annual patriotic program featuring Chris Rybak, Ricky Turpin, Taylor and Travis Bishop and Laura Sulaica

            August 3 – Jim Reeves tribute featuring Ken Brothers, Allison Crowson, Ronnie Mason and Thea Rusch
